This morning was a struggle. I had to return to my bed after walking Jude, but then I felt much better. After lunch I packed my bags and set off for the library. I found a quiet desk on the third floor and four hours went by so quickly I was almost late for this evening's lecture on painting and cinema.
We discussed the way in which film alters the art object, and how the comparatively elitist nature of art has been disseminated through the popular medium of cinema. We watched clips from
Le Mystere Picasso and
Lust for Life with Kirk Douglas done up as Van Gogh. Afterwards the SU Bar beckoned and so the discussion continued as the beer flowed cheaply.
